Texas Hold’em is one of the most popular poker games, where strategy and psychological warfare play a crucial role. Each player is dealt two private cards (hole cards), and five community cards are revealed to determine the best five-card hand combination to win the game.
Basic Rules
In Texas Hold’em, the game proceeds based on the position of the dealer button, which moves one seat clockwise after each hand.
The two players to the left of the button post the Small Blind (SB) and Big Blind (BB), respectively. After that, each player is dealt two private hole cards face down.
Betting Rounds
There are a total of four betting rounds in Texas Hold’em. The first betting round takes place during the Pre-Flop, after the hole cards are dealt.
Next, during the Flop, three community cards are revealed and another round of betting occurs.
A third betting round takes place after the fourth community card, the Turn, is revealed.
Finally, the fifth community card is revealed during the River, followed by the last round of betting.
Betting Options
On their turn, each player can choose from the following actions: – Check: Pass the action without betting (only if no previous bet has been made) – Bet: Place chips into the pot to initiate a bet – Call: Match the amount of the previous player’s bet – Raise: Increase the bet to a higher amount than the current one – Fold: Surrender and discard their cards
During the Pre-Flop, the player to the left of the Big Blind acts first. From the Flop onward, the betting round begins with the Small Blind.
Showdown The showdown takes place when two or more players remain after the final betting round. The player who made the last bet or raise reveals their hand first, followed by the other players, who may either reveal their hands or choose to fold.
Each player forms the best possible five-card hand using their two hole cards and the five community cards. The player with the strongest hand wins the pot. If two or more players have the same hand, the pot is split.
